Welcome To Greyhoundtails.co.uk we look forward to meeting you.
We first built this site towards the end of 2007 however, we ran out of time to complete it with all our work, family and pet commitments. It is still very much work in progress but at least we've finally managed to launch the site. Please take time to share your memories, stories and funny moments with us.
Sadly on the evening of the 6th of February 2010 Missy lost her battles and has now gone to Rainbow Bridge.
Rest in Peace my gorgeous girl you are already sadly missed.
A little sad news I'm afraid. Zak our big boy has been struggling with an injury to his tail for the past year and finally managed to sustain a serious enough injury for it to finally become infected, and to be amputated. So I have to report that his happy tail of nearly two feet long is now, no more. Today he has had approximately 6-8 inches removed and is supporting a very girlie purple bandage but at least he doesn't appear to be in any pain but does have a number of tables and painkillers to take for a wee while.
Well Missy had a few more seizures and was still doing potty a lot and because of the stress of the poo. She'd have a seizure while asleep, once recovered she received more sedation and was taken potty and the soon recovered after toileting. Clearly we went a little too far with the califig but its early days in our monitoring and mistakes are easily made. So all we can do is manage her as best we can until the toileting subsides. Looks like the bread we fed her didn't help with being homemade as the active yeast didn't help her backside. Mental Note don't give her homemade bread !
We've decided to produce a blog on behalf of Missy who is a 5 year old greyhound. She suddenly developed Epilepsy almost 2 years ago and since the start we have been struggling to get the seizures under control. The seizures have never been regular as such, though she did go through a patch for six months where she would fit every two weeks but then she took a huge relapse from this routine to fitting every week. We took her back to the vets and had in medication increased where she is currently on 6 epiphen and 5 potassium bromide everyday. When the meds were increased she managed to go for 9 weeks and 3 days without a seizure. We started to notice that the seizures were linked to her pooing and decided in January 2009 to keep a log of the quantity and frequency of her poos. We had always been told that the pooing after a seizure was as a result of the seizure.
